Christie Anderson
Christie Anderson is a singer, conductor and arts manager. In addition to being Musical Director for the Corinthian Singers, she is a founding member of the award-winning eve vocal trio, tutor at Adelaide University’s Elder Conservatorium of Music, (teaching Aural and conducting Adelaide Voices, the Conservatorium’s ten-voice chamber choir). Christie has been a core member of Adelaide Chamber Singers for many years and also sings with the Adelaide Vocal Project.
Christie began singing in choirs at an early age and when she became a core member of Adelaide Chamber Singers in 1994 she never looked back. It was through her work with ACS and director Carl Crossin OAM and her position as Artistic Director of the early music festival Early Music in Late May in Norwich, England from 1997 – 2000 that she developed a love for early vocal chamber music and ensemble singing.
Recent musical highlights have included winning the title of Choir of the World with Adelaide Chamber Singers in Kathaumixw, British Columbia in July 2006; performing in London, Norwich and York with eveand working with two wonderful early music singers John Potter and Anna-Maria Friman; singing in John Adams’ Grand Pianola Music for two solo pianos, three female voices and orchestra and recently performing two operas by Philip Glass, Einstein on the Beach and Satyagraha with the Adelaide Vocal Project and Leigh Warren and Dancers.
In the gaps, Christie continues studying for her Master of Music (conducting), exploring the behaviour of dissonance in medieval counterpoint in the contemporary choral music of Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis and Clare Maclean. (She’s also beginning to explore the behaviour of babies, having recently become an Aunty to the lovely Jasper).
